Severe Osteoarthritis, Advised Hip Replacement. Taking Oxycodone Doesn't Help. Is It Strong Medication ?

Hello, I am currently taking oxycodone 30 mg every 4-6 hours, I have severe osteoarthritis and will be having my right hip replaced soon and my thumb which is curved into the palm of my hand will be straitened out, I will soon after that be having my left hip replaced, I have degenerative disc disease and osteophites through out my spine and hips and pelvis, I am riddled with arthritis throughout my body, I am 58 The oxycodone seems to not be helping with the pain all the time now, I will be seeing my Pain Doctor Monday, he has been asking me for quite a while if it is helping and I have never wanted to change as I feel oxycodone is already a strong medication, but I am wondering if it is available in a 40 mg tablet. Your answer would help when I go to see him, I have been suffering from this for 7 years . thank you

Hi
Oxycodone doses greater than 30 mg normally used for cancer patients and those are used with caution under supervision of a physician.Your dose can be adjusted by your physician if it is not working good. Its a narcotic drug so dependance is there. When you get rid of it, it should be done gradually as you are taking it for long time.Hope this may help you.
thanks
