Severe Pain During Urination, Painful Foreskin, Sore. Treated With Cefixime, Augmentin. Reason?
Dear Dr. Chandan, my husband is suffering from severe pain while urination. His penis is badly swollen and the foreskin has painful sore like cracks/leisions measuring about .01mm in diameter. He is unable to pull back the foreskin but sores are visible on the head/ glans penis as well. He was treated with Cefixime for 3 days but with no effect. He is now on Augmentin 650 duo a combination of amoxyllin and potassium chalauvate. This developed after he used a urinal at a village where he was supervising a NCC camp for students, please advice. Thank you.
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I wish to answer as it looks like you need early help and DR CHANDAN may be little busy. He may also answer once he is free.
This is typical infection of the glans and the foreskin.
He needs in addition, topical antibiotics like bacitracin/soframycin/fucidin.
Diabetic control is needed if he has high sugar.
THIS IS NOT DUE TO PASSING URINE IN COMMON PLACES.
More than anything, before things get worse, pls consult a nearby urologist for examination and take immediate next step.
Regards
DR GS
