MY WIFE ANJU JAIN IS 49 YRS OF AGE AND SUFFRING FROM BACK PAIN ON X RAY DR HAD TOLD THAT L-4 AND L-5 DISC IS COMRESSED EVEN AFTER TAKING THE TREATMENT FOR A LONG ONLY TEMP. RELIEF FROM PAIN AFTER SOME TIME THINGS GET AS IT IS. ALONG WITH THIS KNEE JOINT PAIN IS ALSO THERE

Hello, Thanks for writing in. As you have detailed there is L4 and L5 disc problem with your wife. I presume you have got a MRI scan of back and are consulting a neurosurgeon. Now days there are many treatment options available for disc problems depending on whether the pain is mild or severe. Generally doctors do not advise surgery for mild pain. Newer forms of treatment using laser to operate on the disc are also available in India. The knee joint pain also needs consideration and imaging investigations if not performed earlier. Please have a detailed discussion with your neurosurgeon (for back pain) and orthopedic surgeon (for knee pain). Please do inform both doctors of medications taken. Hope this helps.
