Severe Pain In Epigastric Region, Nausea, Vomiting, Weightloss. Endoscopy Showed Full Stomach After Fasting For A Day. Suggest

Recently I have severe pain at times in the epigastric region with nausea/vomiting,& lost 20 lbs since Feb 2013. It has escalated to the point of ending up in the E.R. dept. Endoscopic Capsule, regular Endoscopy was done, but even though I had fasted for 24hrs, my MD said I had a stomach full of food. My doctor says more tests to rule out obstruction or tumor. I love my doctor, but I just want to make sure if there is anything else that can be done instead of waiting for tests. Most which are incoclusive. JAN R.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A history of epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of weight and full stomach after fasting all indicate an obstruction beyond the stomach.
Obstruction is commonly due to cancerous growth at this site.
Presence of weight loss is a constitutional factor of any malignancy.
However, the diagnosis can only be confirmed by histopathological proof of malignancy.
A biopsy from the growth will tell about the nature of the lesion.
If malignant, the management has to be planned according to the site, size and spread of the malignant tumor.
Stay in touch with your treating doctor.
