Severe Pain In The Chest. Difficulty In Deep Breathing. Have Bronchitis. Is That The Reason?

I am having severe pain in left side of my chest--underneath the breast. It shoots back to the back of my chest but it localized on the left side. It feels awful to take a full breath and even unbearable when I lean forward. I have bronchitis and have had a bad cough. What is this pain? I thought I was having a heart attack when it began and has lasted over 12 hours now.

Hi,
Thanks for visiting HCM
The differential diagnosis of your chest pain can be angina, acid disorders and pleuritic chest pain secondary to pneumonia.Since you suffered heart attack, ruling out angina is of utmost importance. So go for electrocardiography urgently and if needed troponin T test.
You may go for barium meal test to assess for acid disorders or else can take acid lowering agent like omeprazole and see its effect. Pain here usually radiates backward.
Must go for chest xray to look fo developing pleural effusion. Pain in this state increases on maneuvers like deep breathing, coughing, sneezing etc.

Best wishes
