Severe Pain In The Knee After Running. Difficulty In Walking. Reason?

I hurt my knee on my jog today. After running about 2km I got a sudden pain in the lateral side of my knee and continued another 500m before I had to stop. I then had to walk another 2.5km home. The pain isn't unbearable and doesn't bring me to tears so I've just been resting, icing, and elevating it. I can't walk without pain. At first, it hurt to bend it, but now it hurts more to extend it straight.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain that you have described is likely to be due to an injury to the internal knee joint structures. You need avoid stressing the knee, use an elastic brace and go for an MRI scan to detect the type of injury.

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read the details of your question.

It looks that most probably you may be having strain of lateral collateral ligament at your knee.

You may be having associated meniscal problem at your knee.

I will advice you following to have relief at your knee-

-Avoid running & frequent walking on stairs.

-Avoid squatting movements.

-Consult to a orthopedic doctor.

-Have at least a x ray of knee,The MRI will be better to diagnose your problem.

-Take a good analgesic like advil or aleeve for relief.

-Do warm fomentation ,if there is only pain ,no swelling.

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.

Hi welcome to Health care magic forum.
Thanks for choosing H.C.M.Forum.
After running about 2 km got sudden pain, on lateral side of knee, continued another 500 m,then to walk about 2.5 km to home, at first there is pain to bend, then to extend.
It appears to be the stretch of the lateral ligament of the knee. It needs to be treated with elastic bandage, rest and analgesics.
I advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
I also advise you to avoid potato, other tubers, tomato, egg, chicken, and seafoods, to avoid the pain, till it is completely comfertable.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery.
Best regards.
