Severe Pneumonia, Under Medication. Advised Not To Lie Down, Sleep Or Rest, Not Obeying. Suggestions?
how much lying down sleeping/resting should be allowed. our doctor told my husband to not to lie down in bed during the day, this he is not obeying, now 11.30...what shall I tell him . He has severe peunomia , under medication etc, and following instructions but insisting on staying in bed...he is 85...a big man. virginia

The natural course of treatment for pneumonia is 7-14 days , however it depends upon the nature of causative pathogens ( bacteria etc).
In my opinion lying down ( prohibition ) may be due to other reason as fluid etc in lungs or dysponea .
Consult your treating doctor and get advice .
If , your husband is feeling uneasiness than consult another physician and get his opinion.
