Sharp Pain In Ear. What Kind Of Treatment Will Help?
Hi.... I have a sharp pain in my ear that travels down to my throat making my throat feel like it is going to be sore. One of the boys that I care for has ear drops. I have no insurance, so I would like to know what I can do to relieve this discomfort as soon as possible. I am suppose to fly on vacation in one week and I don t know it that will be a problem. How can I tell if I need an antibiotic? Help??
Hi and thanks for the query, It is important to know exactly why you are having the pain. It is imperative also to note any notion of trauma, and whether this is the first time yoy are experiencing this or not. The presence or absence of a discharge at the level of the ear is important. Examination of the ear, using a special instrument called the otoscope to know exactly what is going on inside is imperative. the opinion of your ENt specialist or Primary care physician is important. While waiting, simple analgesics and anti inflammatory drugs could help. Kind regards
