Short Height Of 69cm In A 9 Mth Old Baby. Would It Cause Problem In Future?

Hi sir,
In 9 month ultra sound scanning there is a problem of shortening of long bones. But birth he is 47cm. now he is one year old having only 69cm. We took the xray of left wrist and knees. there were no problem showing. is 69cm is enough for 1year old baby and he is only having 7.500 kg. Is there any problem in future?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Was he preterm?

The height and weight depends on his birth weight and length.

At birth, his length is at lower end, so it is now also in the lower range on growth charts.

Height usually depends on parents and family height also.

Look and rule any underlying bone and endocrinal problems such as hypothyroidism with physical examination and investigations.

Monitor his height and weight on growth charts.

Consult the doctor for examination and to look for any underlying problems.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
