Should Althea Pills Be Taken Every Eight Hours?

My wife is a first time user of Althea 21 days. She had her 1st day of menstruation on Tuesday night and took 1 tablet (Sunday tablet indicated on her Althea pills). After 8 hours she took the Monday tablet and and waited for another 8 hours and she took the Tuesday pill. Today is Wednesday and she will be taking the Wednesday pill tonight. Is this correct?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If she is starting it for the first time, she needs to start on the second day of her bleeding. There is no need to take three tablets.

If she has to start on Wednesday for example (if Wednesday was her second day of menses) then she does not need to take the tablet mentioned for Sunday Monday or Tuesday.

She just needs to start from the tablet of Wednesday and move forward for 21 days. So take only one pill daily, and on the same time of the day.

So if she has already taken tablet today, no need to take another one on the same day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
