Should Amoxicillin Be Taken To Prevent The Nasal Mucus From Settling In Lungs?

I ve had laryngitis for several weeks thought to be an irritation from Xarelto causing extreme nasal bleeding over my vocal cords for several months. Dr took me off Xarelto and I have slowly developed a cold. Never had fever or chills or other bad feelings but now I have lots of mucus in my nose and throat. I was given Amoxicillin 875mg just in case I got other symptoms, but after two weeks still nothing but cough, nasal congestion, nasal drip and tiredness. I must mention I am 70 and have metastatic renal carcinoma so it takes longer for me to recover from everything. Should I go ahead and take tha Amoxicillan to prevent the nasal mucus from settling I my lungs or should I just tough it out?
