Should Bactroban Cream Be Avoided While On Flucloxacillin For Skin Infection?

I have been given Flucloxacillin for a skin infection. Before I went to the Dr, I used some Bactroban on it twice. Now that I have started the oral antibiotics, should I stop using the cream? I took one capsule of Flucloxacillin two hours ago, will it have started to work yet?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you can use both simultaneously, without any issue. Many times topical and oral antibiotics are given side by side to help with better recovery. Using anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen alongwith these can also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
