Should Celestamine Be Used To Cure Rashes, Developed Post Ciprofloxacin Intake?

Hi My child have a rush from the antibiotic Ciprofloxaci and we are using Celestamine for a week. Every time that I do not give him the celestamine the rush starts (within 12 hours). I looks like the fever is gone. must I continue with the celestamine. It is only on the front part of the leg from the knee down.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, the drug-induced rashes fade away very soon, once the intake of the drug is stopped.

As there is a period of 7 days of Celestamine intake, I do not see any further need of the same; the immune system of the child will take care of rest of the lesions.

Keep the area clean with an antiseptic liquid and dry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
