hi.. thanks for writing..i have understood your concerns..
first of all some questions are there in my mind:
1. to which drugs he is addicted? alcohol, benzos, cocaine, weed etc..
2. who diagnose him
bipolar disorder patient?
3. whether he is depressed?
answering your main question, bipolar patient shud not receive antidepressant medication [here cymbalta] unless there is
severe depression and it shud be given with the cover of
mood stabilizer [here divalproex sod]
geodon is antipsychotic drug. it can be given initially to control the agitation and aggression associated with bipolar mania..
the codeine is given for detoxification from cocaine dependence or opioid drugs dependence..
clonidine is also given to control
withdrawal symptoms from opioid dependence..
but oxazepam is usually used to detoxify benzodiazepine or
alcohol dependence..
it has no role in opioid detoxification..
if your family member has opioid dependence then, codeine and clonidine can be justified as a treatment but oxazepam can not be .
similarly if he has benzos or alcohol dependence, then oxazepam can be justified but clonidine and codeine can not be..
if the person has depression in bipolar disirder cymbalta can be given with dival sod, but there is no role of giving geodon..
i hope this information will be helpful to you..best of luck..
