Should Folic Acid Tablets Be Taken Along With Humira For Reiter S Syndrome?

I have been recently diagnosed with Reiters Syndrome. Took methotrexate for 6 months; chronic fatigue was too much and arthritis doctor switched me to Humira (insurance thrilled). Only been on one week; forgot to ask arthritis doc about folic acid that I took with methotrexate (1mg daily). She didnt mention. Should take folic acid and how much?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern regarding the role of Folic acid along with Humira.

There's no need to take Folic acid along with Humira (Adalimumab).
Methotrexate is known to cause megaloblastic anemia due to deficiency of Folic acid hence it is (Folinic acid) is supplemented as long as Methotrexate is administered.
Since, you have stopped taking Methtrexate, so there's no need to take Folic acid along with Humira.
Hope this answers your query.
