Should I Be Concern For A Bump Under The Skin Close To The Site Of Removal Of A Sebaceous Cyst?
I had sebaceous cyst removed from my back 10 years ago. For couple of years now i have bump under my skin close to site of removal but not exactly same place. It is about 3/4 round feels semi firm (i remember my cyst was same size before it got infected) there is no pain or color.Should I be concern?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your description, it could be a recurrence of the sebaceous cyst. There is a high chance of recurrence even after removal of sebaceous cyst. Or it could be a new cyst or even a lipoma ( swelling due to collection of fat cells) , leiomyoma ( benign swelling of smooth muscle cells in skin), neurofibroma ( benign swelling of nerve cells) or a dermatofibroma. They all appear quite similar. You could do a fine needle aspiration cytology ( FNAC) to confirm the type of swelling. Hope this helps you. Take care.
