Should I Be Concerned About Dizziness, Vomiting And Fatigue Following An Infection After A Diving Trip?
My son just came back from a diving trip in the south. While there he had an erring infection and stopped diving. Back to his home ,he called me in distress saying he looses his balance ,cannot make an effort without vomiting he can hardly walk. He is alone and has laid down to rest. He felt too week to call an ambulance. Is he in danger? I am 1500 miles away from his home.

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, I have gone through your sons history, as he is a diver these type of infections are common. Nothing to worry it is an infection in external auditory canal whcih is most common in divers. If I were your treating doctor I would have advised Four things. 1. Stop diving for some time till pain comes down. 2. He should be given oral antibiotics 3. He should be given oral Analgesics. 4. Take rest Important advise to your son is while diving he should use ear plugs , which will avoid the entry of water into the ears. Nothing to worry all his symptoms will come down. If you have any query please feel free to ask me. Thank You
