Should I Be Concerned About Facial Swelling After Taking 1000 Mg Of Niacin?

Was taking niacin no flush for cholesterol and found out I needed to take the regular niacin, so switched over with the same 1000 mg to regular and experienced a terrible flush - including facial swelling. Going to cut dosage to 500 - is there concern for the facial swelling. The swelling went down within a few minutes.

Hi!
I read carefully your query .
It seems to me that you had a allergic reaction to Niacin.
I don't recommend you to take it any more.
I suggest to consult with the doctor who has prescribed you this drug before continue to taking it.He will give another drug that has the same action of Niacin but doesn't provokes a allergic reaction to you.

Take care

Dr.Rovena
