Should I Be Concerned About Persistent Diarrhea, Joint Pain, And A Sore Throat Despite Testing Negative For HIV At 2, 4, And 8 Weeks?

Hi there, I have had a protected sex with sex worker 8 weeks ago. I was suspicious about broken condom, but it was just my anxiety. I tested antiobody at 2 week - negative HIV combo Ag/Ab at 4 week - negative HIV combo Ag/Ab at 8 week - negative I had diarrhea after 2 weeks of infection and lasted for 3.5 weeks. I felt some joint pains, but I am not sure it was due to the paying too much attention or real pain. And at 7 week of exposure I have sore throat in one side of my neck specifically, which hurts when I swallow my spit. Thanks in advance for your answer. Have a nice day

Hello,

Get clinically examined by a GP, get sputum examination and blood tests done to rule out or detect arthritis, causing joint pain or liver problems or gastroenteritis that could cause diarrhea. Switch to boiled food for a couple of days. Avoid taking hot, spicy, oily food. Take well-cooked whole cereals in small amount. Take fruits, berries, veggies, lean meat in small amount multiple times a day.

However, the symptoms of sore throat and prolonged diarrhea that you experienced can be indicative of HIV. You are advised to get a rapid antigen / antibody test done to detect HIV, 18 to 90 days after exposure. This test should be followed by western blot test that detects HIV antibodies. It is used to confirm a positive HIV diagnosis after an initial screening test.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
