Should I Be Concerned For Fever, Nausea And Vomiting After A Head Injury?

Hi my sister banged her head on a metal bar in the park, in the morning 2 days ago. She felt fine straight away but that evening she went to bed early...she woke up with a fever after a few hours and felt very nauseus and started vomiting. she now has a hge bump in the middle of her forhead but she bumped her head at the side and on top. Should i be concerned ?

Hello thank You for contacting HCM
Let me explain to you the Traumatic Head injury due to direct impact a little bit to start with:

The Brain is enclosed into the bony cavity called skull and ther's hardly any space for it to expand . Due to any traumatic head injury there's a direct impact to the area the skull got hit as well as impact to the brain inside the skull where it got hit. This results in injury to the brain matters/torn blood vessels leaking blood causing blood-clot/active bleeding/swelling of the brain matters etc. The symptoms that happens in a patient due to this are numerous mild-mod-severe i.e Headache/nausea/vomiting/sudden loss of consciousness/fits/weakness of any body parts/loss of vision/hearing/fever/change of personality etc.

Now coming to your query : Yes you need to be concerned right away and without wasting any more time just rush to your nearest ER and get your sister checked and get a CT-Scan of Head done as soon as possible as it seems like your sister is probably having internal bleeding in her brain as well as some pressure effects due to that. Do watch for any sudden changes like increased drowsiness/cessation of speech/any abnormal body movements

You sister needs urgent medical attention and Please hurry up and take her to your nearest ER and get back to me whenever possible

Thanks again for contacting HCM
