Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Concerned For The Increased HDL Levels?
I am an active 54 yr old. I Spin 3x week, do an aerobic step class and weight train. I am 5ft 8 1/2 inches and now weigh aprox 165lbs (down from 183 in the past 6 mos). I just recently had a blood test that was ordered by my endocrnologist. My TC is 237 and my HDL is 52. Last year my TC was about the same before the weight loss but I'm pretty sure my HDL has increased a couple of points. Should I be concerned?
LDL is bad cholesterol – lower, the better. In the absence of any other risk factor 100 is ideal for LDL-C. In the presence of ischemia, 70 should be the aim. What is your level? - discuss with your doctor
