Should I Be Concerned For Trace Amounts Of Free Fluid In Pelvis?
After some abdominal discomfort, my gastro ordered an abdominal/Pelvic CT Scan with contrast. Findings showed no acute abnormality of the abdomen or pelvis, but there was "trace amounts of free fluid in the pelvis". I am a 58 year old female, complete hysterectomy in 2008. Some research shows the med community needs more info to pinpoint the problem. Just curious on your take... Thanks
Hi. Trace amount of fluid in the pelvis without any other symptoms should not be worried about. You already have a history of hysterectomy and Ct showing no other abnormality. So relax and get simple sonography done after 6 weeks to see the status. IF persists then only to go for the further tests.. IT is very difficult and not advisable to aspirate such a small fluid.
