Should I Be Concerned With 10 Pieces Of Shot Embedded In Thigh Area?

My 20 yr. old stepson was rabbit hunting and was accidentally shot. about 10 pieces of shot are embedded in his thigh area. He did go to the emergency room, and the doctor there decided to leave them embedded. Should this be a concern if they are lead shot?

The splinter travling in air with high speed becocome sterile. So they can be left like that. Generally they are steel splinter and not lead. You may enquire about it.
