Should I Be Worried About Back Spasms And Shortness Of Breath After Climbing Stairs?

Hi. I sometimes experience back spasms and shortness of breath after i v climbed 5 flights of stairs. Need I be concerned? i am a female, almost 63 years old, 5 tall and weigh 126lbs. i am not very active, but have recently started doing some exercise a few times/week on my elipical machine at home.

I don't think this is a matter of concern as you are not an active person . This just indicates that your body stamina has gone down.

Just continue doing your exercise and as much as possible exercise everyday instead of few times a week . And with every week slightly increase the duration or intensity of exercise .

Inspite of all these , if after a month you still feel short of breath on climbing stairs then you require certain tests to look into the condition of your heart and Lungs. Revert back to me in that case.
