Should I Be Worried About Painful Hard Lump In Groin That Is Not Affected By Antibiotics?

Hi I have a hard pea size lump in my right groin. Dr says its a lymph node. Antibiotics did nothing. An ultrasound on both the lymph node and reproductive system showed nothing and blood tests were clear. It is extremely painful and has been there for months.the pain also goes down my leg sometimes. I did however have glandular fever a few months ago. Should I be worried?

Hello,
As you had glandular fever (Infectious mononucleosis), It is usual to have lymph nodes swelling anywhere in the body.
As it is a viral infection by Epstein- Barr virus, Antibiotics is not at all needed for confirmed glandular fever.
There's no efficient treatment of infections caused by the Epstein-Barr virus other than to ease the symptoms.
Glandular fever usually takes two to four weeks and resolves itself without complications.
Rarely it goes on longer.
After having the disease, a person will have lifelong immunity to it,so will not catch it again.
Thus wait and watch for few more weeks.

Hope this helps.
