Should I Be Worried About Spinal Discomfort During Pregnancy?
Hi there, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing a strange sensation from the base of my back up my spine to the back of my head. It's a very intense, pulsing almost painful sensation. It builds until it's almost unbearable then fades. Could this be the baby leaning on a nerve or vein or should I be a bit more worried?
Hello dear, back pain during the last trimester is a common problem because of tendency of the growing fetus to move forward and it is mandatory to consider the following things. -to maintain a proper posture, that is to stand up straight and not to lift heavy weights by bending forwards. It is also advisable to lean backwards intermittently. -to sleep in lateral decubitus position, that is on one side of body rather than supine. -not to remain in static position for long time, and to do regular exercise, even walking is sufficient. These methods should solve the problem. If the back pain still persists and is severe then you may have to consult to an obstetrician and the cause to be ruled out.
