Should I Be Worried For Blood Clot That Has Caused Swelling In Calf Of Left Leg?

husband , 75, went to va doctor...swelling in calf of left leg. dr. said combination of fluid and blood buildup. he takes coumadin and dr. said blood results over 400+ and to stay off of coumadin for several days and then resume at lower amount. no other instructions. husband said he had blood clot. I have limited medical knowledge after 30 years of medical office and hospital service, it doesn t sound correct to me. should I worry? or take out a large insurance policy on him? he does lie to me to make me get off his back .

Hi
I think if it is just a blood clot you need not to worry. You can apply ice and wear a elastic bandage. And see weather it is not getting infected.
Beside this you need to look vascular surgeon for vericose veins and get all kidney function test done.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
