Should I Breastfeed My Baby While Having Zinnat And Loviscol Syrup?
my doctor prescribed me zinnat 500mg tid and loviscol syrup tid.im not taking the medicines yet..my baby is taking loviscol drop and ceclor drop.im breastfeeding my baby.she doesnt like milk in a bottle at all. shuold i stop my baby'smedication or sholud i stop breasfeeding my baby?please tell me what to do
Thanks for asking on HealthCareMagic. You have not indicated how old your baby is. Zinnat is cefuroxime and can be taken while you breast feed your baby. The breast feeding needs to be continued and that will also provide immunity to the baby and help her to fight the infection. But I have doubts about the reason the antibiotic and cough syrup are being given. Most of the respiratory tract infections (both adults and children) are caused due to viruses. Unless associated with a superadded bacterial infection they do not need antibiotics. Of course, unless I can examine your chest, it is hard for me to comment. But I have doubts if the antibiotic is required at all. About the cough syrup, rather than taking it, steam inhalation (both for you and your child) works much better. It helps in diluting the cough and thus relieves the problem. You may add some antiallergic like levocetirizine instead (for both).
Hope that answers your query. Feel free to revert back in case of further queries if any.
