I am a 54-yr-old post-menopausal female with a long history of unexplained leukocytosis (neutrophils and lymphocytes elevated, no immature cells noted on CBC), degenerative disc disease (4 lumbar spinal procedures, incl fusion), hypothyroidism (curr rx for levothyroxine). I also have a history of extreme weight gain/loss ( 150 lbs) for no apparent reason. My husband of 13 years believes that these issues are related. Maybe an autoimmune attack on the endocrine system and weight-bearing soft tissues? What direction first... should I be seeking an endocrinologist, immunologist, rheumatologist? Current PCP doesn t seem to think that any of this is connected and feels that all of these things are isolated.
