Should I Consult An Auto Immune Disease Doctor For Lichen Planus On The Vagina?

Hi my name is Cheryl. I have Lichen Planus of the vaginal area. I’ve had this condition for several years. It’s not caused problems until a couple of days ago. I’m suffering immensely , I was prescribed an ointment but it burns and makes it worse. I feel on fire and intense itching. The three doctors I’ve seen for this aren’t able to help me. Should I see an auto immune doctor.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sorry to hear of the trouble you have been through, if you do not have any symptom of auto immune disease like rashes on other places, joint pain or fever etc. I don't think it would be wise to go to a specialist in autoimmune diseases. The best thing is you go to a dermatologist and express your concern. They can better see the lesion and plan ahead , so the best option would be seeing a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
