Should I Continue Taking Oxycodone For Pain In The Hip Area?
I had an Oxford knee replacement five weeks ago. the recovery has been excellent. I was on Oxydodone for four weeks and realized I was taking for pain (severe in my back) and tingling in my legs as well as pain in my hip. I stopped taking the Oxycodone and the pain in terrible. It does back off and then hits me again. Is this a withdrawal sym ptom and how to I fix it??
* Sudden stoppage of the medicine is responsible for rebound pain episodes of grave intensity due to receptor downregulation and that can be drastic problems.
* I would suggest to restart the oxycodone and be in regular follow up with your doc for further guidelines of dose tapering over a period of time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
