Should I Continue With Tegretol And Warfarin While Having Chest Pain?

Hi I am taking 600mg of Tegretol daily and also 10mg of Warfarin. My INR level is constantly low and the Dr keeps increasing it. I am now suffering with chest pain and am concerned I may have a Pulmonary embolism. Is it safe to continue taking these meds together or should I try change to another epileptic drug? I have been taking Tegretol for about 20 years.

Hi,

Welcome to Health Care Magic,

I am Dr.Naveed Ullah khan,

I have read your question in detail and will try to help you in the best way possible.

Changing the medication for ur epilepsy that has been effective for so long would not be good to change. We would rather increase the dose of warfarin and adjust it to the required INR. For ur chest pain i would advise an ECG. Rule out any heart problems then the stomach prob. If its is just a muscular pain then any painkiller would be ok.

I hope this answered all your queries, if you have more queries,I will be happy to answer.

Wish you the best of health.

Regards.
