Should I Continue With Liquid Diet For Black Stools And Ulcerative Colitis?

Been having black stools for a few months and very bloated. I do have a history of Ulcerative Colitis but have no symptoms that I usually would out of remission. My doctor has ran test after test and has found nothing yet. Today I had my usual spat of black tarry stool only this time there was a very long slimy almost like a mop string looking thing in it too. Any suggestions? I have not eaten any pasta or stringy vegetables. Actually been on a liquid diet.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Tarry like stool simply indicates bleeding from upper gastrointestinal tract (stomach or small intestine). Stool can be also black if you take iron supplements.
Ulcerative Colitis does not have to give same symptoms every time it flares up.
That is why I suggest you to do not ignore such serious symptoms.
Please visit your gastrologist. You should have gastroscopy at first. If no source of bleeding will be found, angio-CT of abdomen should be next.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
