Should I Retest My Thyroid When I Have Symptoms Including Fatigue And Swollen Lymph Nodes?

Hello, I eat healthy (lower carb since Feb 2022) and drink plenty of water along with coffee and tea (never soda). I ve been very active all of my life but less so now that I just turned 34. I have experienced the following symptoms for quite a long while: fatigue, swollen lymph nodes (specifically facial), facial puffiness, swollen fingers, dull right stomach/side pain, distended stomach, skin patchiness all over armpits and stomach (look like hives almost), decreased sex drive, light headedness/dizziness, among other things. I had my thyroid tested last at 4 years ago. I am thinking of retesting ... Do u suggest? How can I get the most accurate results (time of day, etc)?

Hi

You have to be evaluated in detail. Consult a family physician at the earliest for a clinical examination and assessment, along with laboratory work up. Other than the thyroid function tests, further blood tests must be conducted to arrive at a provisional diagnosis. Coming to your specific question, thyroid function tests are usually conducted in the mornings rather than the evenings. There is no need of any fasting before drawing the blood.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
