Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I See A Surgeon Or Continue Physical Therapy, Muscle Relaxers And Tylenol For The Foraminal Osteophyte Complex And Mild Mass Effect On The Anterior Spinal Cord?
My MRI shows C5-6 disk space loss, right neural foraminal disk osteophyte complex with moderate right neuroformaninal narrowing. Mild mass-effect on the right anterior spinal cord with right lateral recess narrowing. Central spinal canal measures 1.1 cm. And C6-7 mild broad based disk osteophyte complex. I have daily neck pain and headaches and I am not getting any treatment other than physical therapy for the past 5 months with no relief. Should I see a surgeon or continue physical therapy, muscle relaxers and tylanol?
since you are not getting any relief for 5 straight months, there is no point in continuing with the same treatment.
First of all kindly consult a good orthopedician and get the report and your symptoms evaluated.
Treatment : 1. Start with dexamethasone and methycobalamine injections under supervision. 2. Short wave diathermy. 3. Pregablin and Duloxetine tablets at night time. 4. Cervical isometric exercises 5. A good anti inflammatory and analgesicmuscle relaxant.
If all this doesn't help then you might have to go for an epidural steroid injection.
I hope my advice has helped. Good luck
