Should I Take Medicine During Pregnancy For Cold, Congestion, Sore Throat, Cough And Eye Irritation?
Hi~ I've had a cold for almost two weeks with major congestion, sore throat (likely due to breathing w/ my mouth open since I can't breathe through my nose), persistent cough, and now some eye irritation (my daughter was recently diagnosed with pink eye). A Dr. just prescribed Augmentin since the cold has not gotten better and he doesn't want it to turn into something worse. I am almost 36 weeks pregnant and very reluctant to take anything, especially if what I have is viral and there's no guarantee antibiotics would even help. I would love another Dr.'s opinion on whether or not it's worth it to take this medicine. Thank you!
Hi, Take the Augmentin as prescribed. Its better not to be exposed for a long duration as your immunity is already low. The antibiotics will prevent super infection. Also warm saline gargles, steam inhalation with menthol thrice a day.You are advanced enough in pregnancy, and the antibiotic wont harm you.
