Valparin chrono (
sodium valproate) is an anti-epileptic drug and is used to prevent recurrence of seizures or
fits.
Generally, if a child is seizure-free for at least three years, we think of reducing and stopping the drug. However, before stopping the drug, it is better to ensure that brain scan and EEG are normal.
Also, the medication should not be abruptly stopped. The dose should be reduced and stopped over a few weeks to months.
