Should A Large Hematoma In The Tailbone Be Drained?

Hello Doctor, I was in a motorcycle accident on April 22, 2016. As a result from the fall, I have a large hematoma on my tailbone / buttock area. It hasn t reduced in size as I was told it would however, it did spread into three separate sacks and then recollected itself into one large one. I don t know whether to let it be and hope it reabsorbs or have it drained. What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the hematoma is not regressing in size, then it should be drained as there are chances of getting it infected. Please get it drained at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
