Should A Medical Check Up Be Done After Exposure To Plastic Fumes?

Hi, I accidentally put a plastic tray in the oven and it melted inside and created fumes. I was probably exposed to it for ten minutes before I got outside. I don t feel any physical reaction like headaches, but should I be concerned and get myself checked out at the doctor s?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

People exposed to vapours and fumes from burning plastics frequently are at increased risk because of the long-term exposure to volatile organic compounds.

You are not at any risk if it was a single exposure. You should not be worried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
