Should Chest Pain And Rapid Heartbeat Worry A Patient Of Asthma And High Blood Pressure?
Hi im a 23 year old male i smoke and have done for 3 years i have 8 fags a day . I have been sufering with chest pains for 4 mounths now. I went to my local gp and had my chest listened to and was told everything was fine. Since then the pain is mainly on the left side of my chest and i am getting a fast heart beat and paule even just from standing up . I checked my blood pressure with a home kit and it was 85/135 is this high and if so could this be causeing all my symtoms . Also i suffered astama and hihgh blood preasure when i was littel. It is realy starting to worry me and get me down please help kind regards matthew hurst .
Yes its a worrying factor a patient with asthma and high blood pressure, rapid rise in the heart rate can cause decreased blood flow to the cardiac muscles which might even worsen the cardiac condition. Secondly high heart rate can decrease the oxygen saturation which indeed worsen the asthma
Beta blockers should be used in caution I patients with asthma and high blood pressure as it may aggravate the high blood pressure. Cardioselective beta blockers might be suitable,.
