Should Doctor Be Consulted For Redness And Soreness In Throat?
Hi! I accidentally swallowed a fish bone last night and it got stuck in my throat. I tried gulping a ball of rice and banana but it didn t work. And like a couple hours ago, I ate ramen soup and after eating I don t feel the bone in throat anymore. But then I felt like my throat was bleeding and it has bright red and some clots and it hurts ever time I try to swallow. However, after spitting out some bright red blood and clots, it stopped bleeding. Should I go see a doctor? Or would I just leave my throat until it gets healed. Thank you!
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.
You swallowed a fishbone and suffered trauma to your throat as a result of that fish bone. the bleeding has stopped and you still have some pain. If you develop any fever or cough or shortness of breath then I would recommend see a doctor. It sounds though that you passed the bone with only minor trauma. If it had punctured your esophagus you have the above mentioned symptoms. Unless you develop those symptoms I would not recommend seeing a doctor.
