Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 1 year (September 2011) out of colostomy surgery because of colon cancer. I have been in remission since June 2012. For the last week I have been having abdominal pain (lower and upper but worse in the right upper). It's a dull pain constantly with intermittent periods of stabbing pain. My surgeon told me that some discomfort at times is expected. My question is how much pain is something to be concerned about? I have had no problems before now.
Please get a ultrasound of your abdomen done to detect any early lesions in your liver and any enlarged nodes in the abdomen. As these pain may even be due to them also.
If usg is normal, then you need not worry about your cancer. Then the pain maybe due to gastritis or renal stones. Stones will also be get picked up on the usg.
