Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had routine blood work completed for an insurance policy. My insurance was declined d/t my an elevated GGT of 254 and ALT slightly elevated. Asymptomatic. 32yo female 5 5 194lbs. No daily meds or alcohol. Should I be concerned about this? I have no medical insurance so I m afraid a workup will cost and arm and a leg only to tell me I m ok and could stand to lose some weight.
GGT and ALT are liver enzymes which are elevated in case there is some pathology in liver and biliary tract. Get an ultrasound done to know about your liver and biliary tract to know if something is wrong. If it is normal, get your self tested again in a different lab. Hope things go out well for you.
