Should I Be Concerned About Large Painful Swollen Tonsils With White Spots

my daughter has very swollen tonsils with white spots all over both of them. took her to the doctor, he did a strep test which was negative, and he said to take over-the counter pain relief, and for sore throat. gave her a prescription for amoxicillin if she gets a higher fever, and sees pus or coughs up pus...we have not taken the antibiotic yet..but the tonsils are very very large, and I am getting worried

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
You need not worry for big tonsils.
Tonsils grow in size up to 12 years and then they start regressing in size.
White spots over the tonsils suggest infection by streptococci.
This may be the cause of RHEMATIC FEVER.
She needs treatment either with Penicillin or erythromycin.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
