Should I Be Concerned About The Difficulty In Breathing Especially During Evening?

I am a 50 year old woman, and going through the menopause, and have in recent months become more and more breathless and sometimes can not take a deep enough breathe and then feel the need to yawn, although sometimes can not yawn deep enough! I have been under a lot of stress and am going to counselling, but still have these symptoms and feel quite concerned about it. The breathing seems worse if I am having a hot flush, which is normally every hour! The worse time for my lose of breathe is in the evening when I am relaxing.

welcome to HCM!

After reading your question I can say from my clinical experience that your breathing experince is due to the stress you are undergoing. Though you are under therapy sessions but I think that you require medicine as well.

The fact that the breathing difficulty increases when you relax-- is because other times you are busy/ distracted with other works, and your anxiety is covered...you can't feel it much, but when you relax (are free) then the real problem takes over and you experinece berating problem.

I m almost sure that it is because of stress and anxiety, as when you sleep then you cannot yawn consciously, but you are still alive!
we sleep for good six hours or so, so, had it been something else it was not possible for you to sleep easily.

(however in anxiety there can be delayed / distracted sleep. )
regarding your hot flashes, they seem to be related to menopause problems, which should be discussed with a gynaecologist. as you have mentioned, these hot flushes can increase the symptoms of anxiety/ breathing difficulty.

Please meet a psychiatrist and ask for some medicines, your breathing difficulty will definitely resolve. you may also continue with therapy sessions.
only after taking to you on detail one can decide your appropriate drugs.

Hope the reply is helpful
