Should I Be Worried About Absence Of Heartbeat On Trans Vaginal Ultrasound?
6weeks 4days pregnant, fetal pole measuring .64 cm, and hcg levels over 16,000 but no heartbeat on transvaginal ultrasound today. Nurse said my uterus was tipped upward and she could actually only see the fetus when my bladder was full on transvaginal ultrasound. She didn t sound too concerned, but should I be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, trance vaginal ultrasound can detect fetal heart beats as early as 6 weeks. Your USG scan did not show heart beats at 6 weeks 4 days pregnancy. You need not be worried, but be watchful. please get repeat ultrasound done after a week .Sometimes fetal age can not be exactly determined-as it depends on ovulation & time of fertilization. - consult your gynecologist for hormonal support, if found needful. - avoid exertion.Be psychologically positive. thanks.
