Should I Be Worried About Numbness Of Body, pain In Shoulder And Low Pulse Rate?

Hi! I am almost 29 years old and in general I have never had any health issues to complain about. I have quit drinking since I was 24. Until a year ago I walked 4-5 miles daily, but since I changed my job I never walk more than a couple of miles a day. I started playing football a year ago and I play an hour twice a week. Last time I played after ten minutes game I had breathing problems (left almost breathless) but I paused for a minute and everything got back to normal. A couple of months earlier I had noticed that parts of my body are getting numb faster than thy used to. Now for the last couple of days I feel like somebody is literally holding my heart on hand, it s not very painful but probably growing because of anxiety. I can feel pain in front left side and back left side of the shoulder. I got a little worried about it so I checked the pulse and blood pressure myself. My blood pressure right now is 119 - 69 and pulse is 61. But yesterday my pulse moved around (41 -48). Can this be something serious.?

Hi, thank you for posting.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Your symptoms might be related to a Bradycardia, more exactly to respiratory sinus arrhythmia.
This type of bradycardia that you are experiencing is usually deemed benign.
It is caused by increasing of vagal tone(neuronal origin disease).

To get the treatment you need a diagnosis.
You need the following tests to determine the diagnosis:
1. Electrocardiogram.
2. Pulmonary X-ray.
3. Blood test(potassium and sodium level).
4. Complete blood count.
5. Glucose test.
6. Urine test.

Consult your cardiologist.

I hope this answer is helpful.

All the best.
Dr. Behar.
