Hi. I am a 72 year old woman with mild pain in my pelvis - radiating from the right to the left side. A recent blood test showed slightly elevated liver enzymes and cloudy urine. However an ultrasound revealed no gallbladder or liver abnormalities. I do take a statin regularly and have heard that this can cause elevated liver enzymes. Is there a next step for me? Or can I relax knowing there is nothing seriously wrong? Thanks!
Elevated liver enzymes are due to effect of statins. It is best to discontinue statin and switch to another lipid-lowering agent. Please follow up with your treating physician to discuss this.
