Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Worried About The Huge Lump Below The Knee After A Fall?
I was running across the streea and tripped and I flew to the geound and hit my knee hard. there is a lump about size of a golf bakk in front below the knee cap. also my leg is numb and tingly from knee to my foot. Can you tell me if it is serious? thank you
This appears to be a prepatellar bursitis. It is a collection of inflammatory fluid in a sac on top of the knee. It is normal after trauma, and as long as the knee is stable to walk on then the injury is likely to be just a contusion (bone bruise of the knee cap). The numbness and tingling is just nerve irritation, and it should be temporary. Overall it does not sound serious.
