Should I Be Worried As I Am Having A Brown Hard Matter In The Wound Caused By Stepping On A Nail?
Hi. So I stepped on a nail yesterday. It broke the skin and went in a bit deep. As it happened I squeezed out some blood and then I cleaned it up with an alcohol pad and put some antibiotic ointment on it and then put a band-aid. I still treat it. But there is some kind of brownish-redish kind of hard thing in it. What is it?? And I'm going to get my tetanus shot tomorrow. And also should I be worried? I'm 14
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Tetanus shot after any injury is advised as early as possible. Infact it should be done in first few hours of getting injured. Continue cleaning the area with spirit or betadine. Also apply a topical antibiotic like mupirocin and fusidic acid. The brown mass could be a crust or coagulated blood. I do not think there is anything to worry about. If the area gets inflammed , tender, red, pus filled, then contact your doctor as early as possible. Take care
